Estimated read time 1 min read

Before the approaching Singles Day shopping festival, Cainiao, the logistics division of Chinese digital giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, launched its half-day express delivery service in Beijing as part of a larger initiative to improve the logistics and delivery efficiency.

The programme was introduced in association with Tmall Supermarket. When a customer places an order with Cainiao before noon, it will be delivered in the afternoon; if the order is placed before midnight, it will be delivered before noon the following day.

Currently, 20 cities across the nation, including Hangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, provide the half-day express delivery service.

Cainiao will become the first Alibaba company unit to go public after a significant reorganisation when it formally submitted its application for an initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange last month.
